If you missed it, just over a month ago I was featured on CBS on a piece titled ‘Women Leading The Way In Post-Recession Job Creation’! The story aired early in the morning, while the video above (and originally found here) was passed on by more than 100 people via facebook and twitter.
The title of the story made me think- This is great, but how does it compare to the work men are doing to create jobs? Furthermore, What do men and women think about the statements posed in the article. So I created a short survey that would answer these questions, and put it out there. The results are pretty interesting. For those interested, a detailed breakdown of the results can be downloaded here. The most interesting pieces I found are:
- Even though MOST people either started, or know someone who started, a business in the last three years a higher percentage of the businesses started by women are still around today.
- Only 5% of women and 2% of the men surveyed attribute “women in business” to be a significant driving force in turning the economy around.
What do you think of the results? Want to weigh in with your point of view? The survey is still going. It is only 4 questions (5 if you count your name!) and can be found here. I promise it won’t take more than 30 seconds to fill out!
