We often think of change as something massive, dramatic and immediate…like a total career pivot, a big promotion or finally achieving work-life harmony. But in reality, lasting change begins with the small shifts: the thoughts we challenge, the patterns we disrupt and the beliefs we finally let go of.
Big change doesn’t start with a leap. It starts with a step.
Here are 3 tiny steps that can unlock a wave of momentum:
Catch The Thought
Not every thought deserves to become a belief.
The moment you hesitate or downplay yourself… “Do I really belong in this meeting? Should I speak up? Am I ready for this?”…pause.
Catch the thought as it happens. That flicker of self-doubt is the exact moment where change begins. Awareness is power.
Tiny Step: Start noticing your most common limiting thoughts. Write them down for one week.
Challenge The Thought
Ask yourself: Is it true…or just familiar?
Just because you’ve always played small doesn’t mean you’re meant to stay small. Most of our hesitation is habitual, not factual.
Tiny Step: Choose one recurring thought (“I’m not ready yet” or “I’m not qualified”) and challenge it with evidence. What makes it untrue?
Change The Thought
Replace self-doubt with possibility.
“I’m not ready” becomes:
- “I’m learning as I go.”
- “No one starts as an expert.”
- “I’m qualified now, and growth will only strengthen me.” The goal isn’t perfection…it’s momentum.
Tiny Step: Practice one empowering reframe per day. Speak it out loud.
These tiny shifts create massive ripple effects. When you change your internal narrative, your external reality starts to shift with it. You speak up. You say yes. You raise your hand. You stop waiting.
Every woman I coach has experienced this: the moment she catches, challenges and changes a thought, she unlocks something bigger.
That first email she sends. That bold request she makes. That idea she finally shares.
They all start with one decision…to think differently.
You don’t have to overhaul your life to make progress.
You just have to stop believing every thought that tells you to stay where you are.
Ask yourself today:
- What thought am I ready to outgrow?
- What tiny shift could change everything?
Imagine it’s 6 months from now…Not waiting for permission. Not asking for validation. Standing in a room, fully confident that you belong…not because someone told you so, but because you decided it yourself. And it’s all the result of 3 tiny steps…
